The Modis Solution: Deploy a project team to overhaul company’s Web sites

This client was unable to increase web sales and decrease the need to engage travel agencies for bookings, and their systems did not offer the necessary functionality to the business user.

Modis deployed project team to overhaul their Web sites and develop a new data model. The new data model allows the client more functionality, flexibility, and scalability. Modis assisted Certified with the migration from SAS and Lotus Notes to a SQL-based, web-enabled system. The Silverston Data Model is used as a framework for the model design, utilizing multiple SQL databases and a .Net framework for web enablement.

Modis’ team for the overhaul project included one data architect, two SQL developers, one SQL database administrator, one technical writer, one Unix system administrator/hardware specialist, and one Lotus Notes Developer.

The client predicted that the new system will completely change their business and increase profit by more than 20 percent. Our solution mitigated all risk and reduced cost. In addition, Modis had the resources available to get the job done.

The Modis Solution: Provide senior Oracle experts for integration project prior to merger

The client needed to standardize and integrate their Oracle database prior to a major acquisition. They also were tasked with the responsibility for all development of future marketing applications worldwide. As their existing Oracle team in place was made up of only a few junior programmers, they needed senior-level Oracle technical experts as soon as possible.

Modis met with the client to develop a plan to determine which skill sets would be required to ease the acquisition process as much as possible. Modis then recruited, screened and placed 11 senior Oracle programmers.

The new Oracle dream team members had the synergy, knowledge and industry experience the client required for this project. The consultants were able to enhance existing applications as well as write new ones ahead of schedule. The senior team members also mentored the client’s existing Oracle staff in order to increase their overall productivity.

As a result, the client was able to complete the acquisition on time and on budget. We also left them with a much more highly skilled staff.

Modis developed a client-server-based vendor management solution. More specifically, this application automated the order tracking system for vendor registration. This process improvement allowed the client’s team to more efficiently communicate with and manage their trade show vendors.

Our project manager and developers are enhancing both front- and back-end applications using Java, J2EE, J-Script, SQL Gupta, HTML, COM and ASP. This was a major project for the client and our Modis team worked at the highest level of the company to insure that all goals and requirements were met and completed on time.

The Modis Solution: Java-based client integrates antiquated systems, speeds process

This client relied on multiple, fragmented systems for their order entry, inventory, billing and freight system. The multiple systems required a tremendous amount of manual entries, causing too many delays.

Modis delivered a fully integrated and centralized business management system that streamlined the client’s entire show process. This system is a Java-based client that interfaces to an Oracle database. The system provides on-line access to all show systems for all of the client’s branches.

To develop this system, Modis provided a team consisting of a project manager, technical lead and Java developers to work at the client’s site. They were charged with creating an extensive requirements document, a total system design as well as a project plan for the development phases.

Modis has played a key role in assisting the client improve their infrastructure on previous projects as well. Our consultants also developed a client-server-based application focusing on automating the order tracking system for vendor registration.

As one of the leading innovators of the Internet-based hospitality market, the client has a growing need for consultants near their headquarters in Texas. Modis developed a rapport with the client’s human resources management and formulated a partnership vision that would meet their specific needs. Working with the client’s new procurement office, we agreed to more competitive rates than they were paying from other suppliers and abided by restrictions regarding contacting managers. We placed our first consultant in August, 2004 and have since made more than 100 placements.

All of this growth occurred within the last 10 years. Its most recent expansion cost over $1.3 billion to complete.

The Modis Solution: Keeping direct hire solutions in step with casino’s explosive growth

The client’s rapid growth caused great strains on its information technology department. Expansion required a department-wide reorganization as well as plans to grow the internal staff by 20 percent during the first year. Additionally, the casino IT department management anticipated 30 percent of their current employees would leave due to the reorganization.

While the casino’s human resources department was overwhelmed with requests for general positions, the IT department needed to explore other options outside of its traditional hiring and promotion methods.

Modis partnered with one of our sister companies to provide both direct hire recruiting services as well as leadership training. Modis also developed a special direct-hire flat rate in exchange for special considerations; for example, the casino gave Modis a one-month exclusive on all full time positions – both new and replacement.

Not only was this special direct hire rate a boon for the casino, but their IT department managers found relying on Modis to provide fully qualified and pre-screened candidates saved them additional time as well. On average, Modis provided three to five qualified candidates for each job order.

The Modis Solution: Provide full spectrum of IT staffing services and solutions

Expansion required a department-wide reorganization as well as plans to grow the internal staff by 20 percent during the first year. Additionally, the casino IT department management anticipated 30 percent of their current employees would leave due to the reorganization.

Modis has been a long-time technology staffing services and solutions supplier for this entertainment giant, providing consultants and project management as needed throughout the country. Some major projects our consultants have played key roles in for the company include:

  • The client desired a project management application that could be accessed by the retail services group in Orlando. Modis consultants developed an Access and Visual Basic application that allowed end-users to quickly access their independent projects. This application also linked to MS Project and Corel Drawings of retail floor space. Modis also worked with the client on the feasibility of expanding this application and making it web-enabled.
  • Modis assisted the client with the upgrade of their PeopleSoft system. Specifically, Disney needed help with their human resources and payroll upgrade. Modis provided the PeopleSoft technical resources to assist the client in the process.
