Well known for its history as well as scenic mountain vistas, North Carolina is a state in transition. In recent years, the State’s economy has shifted from an agricultural to a manufacturing base, and key products include textiles and wooden furniture. The Modis Solution: Deliver team to develop enterprise-level Web-based tracking system

The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources is charged with preserving and protecting the state’s well-known natural resources. The Department has offices throughout the state, encourages businesses, farmers and local governments to use responsible environmental practices, and manages initiatives to safeguard air and water quality.

Modis has been instrumental in the development of major projects for the Department since 1998. The Department’s Division of Water Quality preserves, protects and enhances North Carolina's water and groundwater resources through quality monitoring, efficient permitting, responsible management, fair and effective enforcement and excellence in public service.

A team of Modis consultants was responsible for the Web development of a project to replace several Division legacy systems with an enterprise-level Web-based system. This system assisted the Division track their various efforts. Our consultants played key roles in numerous aspects of this project, including requirement gathering, prototyping, and data modeling.

Modis has a long and successful track record on DENR projects. Other notable engagements include:

  • The Division of Air Quality now uses a Web-based permitting application designed by Modis.
  • Modis delivered architecture consultants and Rapid Application Development expertise to assist with the I-BEAM development project that involves all DENR divisions.
