A Data Analyst is responsible for collecting and presenting data and emphasizing the important information for effective problem solving, decision-making, and conclusions. They are also responsible for analyzing research projects and applying statistics. Typical data analyst jobs may require employees to learn new software, create simpler tasks, determine the problem causing source, recognize data patterns, translate speech into data, create reports that answer uncommon questions, present and modify reports, create different queries for various databases, and determine how the queries can yield comparable data. Data analysts must have excellent communication skills, knowledge of statistical techniques, professional writing skills, self-direction and independence, reporting and interpretation experience, work well under pressure, great organizational skills, value working collaboratively, and be willing to learn new analytic approaches.
