Companies increasingly attempt to consolidate data needed to run every aspect of their business into one master database. This is often done retroactively, with data culled from a variety of sources. Ideally, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is applied. In this case the data is designed to fit all aspects of the business from the ground up, and access software modules may be applied from each segment of the company, in real time. Lawson is an IBM / Microsoft based ERP system. Lawson designs resources for integrated best practices. Modules for manufacturing and service sectors meet specific needs. They offer industry specific packages in food, fashion, distribution, equipment service management, healthcare, and public sector services. Candidates for jobs using Lawson products need a strong background in data conversion and migration. Familiarity with Oracle, M3, Movex, Java and similar platforms is usually required. Project Management Professional Certification may be requested, and also familiarity with one or more particular Lawson modules.
