As a member of the Midrange Project Delivery team, you will be responsible for the implementation of Linux and UNIX servers and the necessary components (hardware/software) to achieve project goals. You'll work closely with project management, technical services and support group, external vendor partners, and the client to ensure a smooth implementation and transition. This candidate will also be responsible for the documentation and staff training on their aspect of the project.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience on Midrange Hardware running Linux and UNIX Operating Systems including Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise, IBM Power5/Power6 hardware running AIX. Knowledgeable in VMware, scripting, disk partitioning, IBM VIO and High Availability concepts and ability to implement the various vendor’s software/solutions.
A prior work history involving running various Linus and UNIX Operating Systems is required.
Familiarity with Enterprise Storage and fundamental networking / distributed computing concepts required. Ability to write scripts in some administrative scripting language.
Build and support of Linux OS & H/W as requested by Projects.
Receive, build, implement and transition to support servers needed for project.
Preferred Qualifications:
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience / training towards technical certifications
• Enterprise running / building Linux in an enterprise environment
• Experience with IBM AIX Operating System and Power5/Power6 hardware
• Experience working with products on a variety of Open Systems
• Experience as an Engineer providing support for large projects from requirements through implementation
• Able to analyze, develop, and enhance engineering workflow processes.
• Knowledgable in Microsoft Project with the ability to create, modify and execute implementation plans.
• Excellent analytical abilities, resulting in problem resolution
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with networking technologies
• Working knowledge of configuration of fiber-based tape and disk environments
