Teradata is an NCR database product specifically geared towards handling large volume and high transaction databases such as those used by airline and telecommunication companies. Terada DBAs can expect to perform new release installations, performance tuning, load management and capacity planning, and security review and management. UNIX administration may also be required and this skill is often a plus when being considered for the position.
Teradata DBAs typically work exclusively with technical teams. Candidates must be self-motivated, have good organizational and planning skills, be able to work with minimal supervision and have a strong UNIX background. Additional VLDB experience is a plus.
