Business relies on accurate, consistent, and reliable data. All too often, that data is not consolidated, but is fragmented across many locations and formats. ETL (extract, transform and load) refers to the collection of data from various sources in order to standardize and consolidate it for efficient use.
The skilled ETL software operator can extract data from different formats and load it into one database or data warehouse in order to cleanse the data eliminating duplicate and fragmentary information. Testing for extraction of data, monitoring of successful transformation, and application of business rules are expected requirements of this position.
