The IGM InfoSphere DataStage ETL software performs standard extract, transform and load operations on data from a variety of sources into one master data warehouse. Key components of DataStage are the ability to use extended metadata, parallel processing, and data integration in real time. DataStage runs on UNIX/ Linux, and its debugging, wizards, and emailing tools set it apart. Requirements for a DataStage Developer will include a degree in Computer Science, or related fields. It will be necessary to have several years of technical experience in the ETL field with DataStage, and usually other ETL software and database products which may include Oracle and SAP.
Differences between DataStage and Informatica drive the need for DataStage experience. Developers need the ability to work both with a team and independently, and high level communication skills are imperative.
