Unix Jobs

A UNIX system administrator is required to maintain and operate the network of a company that uses a UNIX based system. The applicant should possess skills that assist him or her in working effectively with the management chain of an information technology department. The duties entailed in the job are wide-ranging and certain organizational requirements may change from company to company. Candidates should be capable of installing necessary applications and programs, supporting IT personnel and maintaining servers or other computer systems upon demand. The individual will be required to perform strategic planning initiatives and will respond to service outages or other problems when necessary. Knowledge in scripting and programming are essential as well as good project management skills. A UNIX system administrator will occasionally act as supervisor over situations and can possibly be responsible for training staff or acting as a consultant. Team building exercises are essential and the person may be required to perform presentations when necessary.
