A Web Administrator is responsible for managing web servers and websites. They keep internal and external websites functioning properly and monitor the operation and administration. Web administrators are responsible for maintaining the link between the web server and the internet service provider, setting up and maintaining new user accounts, managing web security, keeping servers running efficiently and up-to-date, installing and maintaining software, analyzing log files, maintaining web content, resolving problems, managing system performance and backup, developing and writing installation procedures, and managing intranets within companies.
Requirements for this position include an in-depth knowledge of server software and operation systems, networking, a strong understanding of troubleshooting, in-depth knowledge of security measures, professional writing skills, active learning and listening skills, time management skills, excellent communication and good customer service skills, problem solving skills, flexibility and dependability, independent work skills, and a thorough knowledge of business and management principles.
