The Actuarial Consultant responsibilities include learning the tools necessary for completing quotas of illustration requests for in-force individual Universal, Variable Universal and Indexed Universal Life insurance policies. Consultant will be encouraged to identify possible process improvements. Also this position may be called upon to assist in the testing protocols of software development being created for illustrating similar products.
1. After the sale In-force Illustration Support Training and Backlog Elimination:

  • Learn to navigate various administrative systems, and work with distribution partners in order to define i-illustration requests as they come in;
  • To recognize the appropriate tool(s) required for request fulfilment;
  • To become adept at using the fulfilment tools including EXCEL workbooks, production illustration tools, APL workspaces;
  • To understand what is required to close the requests;
  • To understand where requests may violate insurance regulation and be prepared to provide appropriate counter measures.

2. Provide testing support for new product sales implementation on various software platforms. The detailed tasks include:

  • Develop software test plans to test insurance products on company illustration platform
  • Become acquainted with actuarial pricing of life insurance products.
  • Understand existing and new insurance products and verify any complex logic with pricing actuaries
  • Troubleshoot, communicate and follow up software bugs using departmental bug tracking application.
  • Verify mathematical calculations performed by illustration software according to specifications of the products.
  • Understanding of calc routines which project the financial values and behavior of policies.
  • Design, develop and implement comparison programs that valuate and project the behavior of life insurance products using matrix and functional programming languages such as Visual Basic for Excel, etc.
  • Create 'special request' values projections for new sales and re-projections using programming languages.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related field.
  • Experience with the US Life Insurance is strongly preferred.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with other programming applications/languages, such as VBA, APL is a plus.
  • Experience with software development process is a plus, especially software quality assurance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent Organization Skills
  • This position requires that the applicant be self-motivated and able to work independently
