Modis is looking to fill an exclusive Sr. Agile Project Manager for one of the largest financial service and insurance companies in the United States! Our client is looking for a resource with strong PM leadership skills, a strong background in Agile/Scrum environments and the ability to effectively manage all aspects of the project. This individual should also have experience acting as a Scrum Master for 1 or more teams and driving the organization through the transition.

JOB TITLE: Senior IT Project Manager /Agile Team Leader
 
A. PURPOSE OF JOB:
We are looking for an individual with an IT Project Management background, but can act as Agile Project Manager and Scrum Master to join our team and help us deliver extraordinary customer experiences at scale. Need strong PM leadership as the client is still transitioning to pure Agile/Scrum environment.
 
Manage all aspects of moderate to complex projects to ensure the achievement of project goals and tactical business results. Develop project plans, schedules and budgets, identify needed resources; may manage multiple projects at one time depending on scope and coordinates the activities of several project teams utilizing own project plan including supervision of more junior Project Managers with other plans feeding into the project .
May Supervise other Project Management staff.
 
B. JOB DUTIES:
Manages project planning and execution.
• Works with vendors, internal client management, project team members and stakeholders to define project scope, resource requirements, budget, timeline, deliverables and milestones.
• Manages the definition and refinement of project objectives and tasks and, on an ongoing basis, evaluates various courses of action and selects the most effective alternative to attain project goals.
• Manages projects through all phases of the development life cycle, including project initiation, requirements and specifications, design, construction, testing, installation and post implementation review.
• Act as Scrum Master for one to three teams
• Mentor junior team members
• Challenge, coach and guide teams using agile and lean principles
• Emphasize code quality, with an emphasis on small, focused user stories
• Reduce churn to promote productivity
• Communicate well across a growing, scaling, worldwide organization
• Identifies/reviews organization’s risk management policies and procedures, assesses stake holder’s risk tolerance levels and identifies preliminary risk for project viability.
• Manages risk throughout the life cycle of the project and makes contingency plans to manage issues that pose risk to budget, time delivery or functionality. Balances identified risk against project benefits.
• Determines the detailed information requirements of the project stakeholders and the project/organization and develops feedback routines to ensure two-way communication.
• Determines the requirements for project time reporting, develops a communications management plan, and establishes project status reporting process and cycle.
• Prepares and manages budgets.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
 
C. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• 6-9 years of experience as project manager in the IT industry including management of moderate to complex projects.
• 2+ years experience as SCRUM master with evidence of exceptional ability
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
• Influencing others that do not report to you
• Communicating clearly and concisely
• Working within an agile software engineering environment
• Mitigating risk in a high risk environment
• Solving problems without drama, but knowing when to escalate
• Asking the right questions at the right time
• Experience setting and managing budgets and timelines.
• Experience managing multiple projects.
• Management experience.
 
D. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
• Knowledge of development methodologies, project planning and risk/issue management.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, & time management skills.
• Familiar with System Development Life Cycle.
• Familiar with multiple SDLC methodologies such as waterfall and agile.
• Conflict resolution.
• Familiarity with Project management Software applications such as Microsoft Project and HP Project & Portfolio Management (PPM).
• Excellent team building and coaching skills.
