Business Analyst
 
Modis is looking for a seasoned Business Analyst for one of our fastest growing clients in the Knoxville area.  The ideal candidate will have experience working in an enterprise environment who is familiar with agile/scrum methodologies.  Please take a moment to review the duties and qualifications below:
 
Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Becomes involved with business partners in the project conceptualization phase
  • Leads business case development, including cost/benefit analysis, for new projects
  • Works closely with the program managers, project managers and business technology specialists in developing the appropriate solution to meet the business partner’s needs
  • Acts as a lead to other analysts in large, complex, and potentially enterprise-wide projects
  • Works closely with a variety of internal and external business partners
  • Facilitate communications between IT and the business
  • Consult with business partners on current issues and concerns to help identify and clarify their goals and technical requirements
  • Support business units by investigating operations-related problems/inquiries and recommend, facilitate, and coordinate solutions
  • Gather and document business benefits for new projects
  • Represent business sponsors as Product Owner for IT projects
  • Inform team members about ongoing discussions with business
  • Inform project team on any new findings including best practices
  • Communicate project status to business stakeholders
  • Assist in the preparation of acceptance criteria for developed software
  • Direct the development of user documentation and training materials
  • Provide input to training efforts and helping business partners effectively use systems
  • Participate in system design and, in particular, user interface design
  • Lead backlog grooming sessions with the I.T. development team (agile scrum) to explain the business user stories to the technical teams.
  • Manage agile story backlog, write stories and acceptance criteria working with the business.
  • Identify issues and recommend cost effective solutions that meet business needs
  • Accurately translate business requirements into system functionality
  • Monitor industry activities and identify and recommend potential solutions
  • Research vendor offerings in response to business needs, develop requests for proposals, and lead business partners in the evaluation and selection of third-party solutions
  • Correctly identify technical and business project interdependencies
  • Lead and/or participate in solutions research and evaluations, including new systems (third-party or internally developed), modifications to existing systems, or process changes
  • Provide consultancy and advice on functionality, applicability, and usability of technology solutions to project requirements
  • Act as requirements project lead on any size project, directing and coordinating requirements project staff and activities
  • Recognize and manage business trade-offs and market pressures
  • Identify opportunities to improve current processes and to act as a champion to change within the requirements management profession
  • Participate in the development of strategic and tactical IT plans
  • Assist in developing IT roadmaps and backlogs
  • Conduct analyses of opportunities in order to define priorities and ensure that business value is derived
  • Develop feasibility studies and business cases that offer solutions for business problems/opportunities with technology
  • Lead, facilitate or serve on, cross-functional teams to translate business needs and technology directions into project plans and specifications
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other analysts

 
Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in live streaming video and / or working with OVPs (Online Video Platforms) preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with agile scrum methodology preferred
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required,
  • Masters in Business or Information Technology degree desired
  • Experience: 10 or more years of business and system analysis, management, and project planning experience
