Our client in the Reston, VA area seeks an experience procurement specialist/buyer for a contract role.
 
Buyer will have to perform following  duties but not limited to :  
• Manage the tactical aspect of purchasing, including -
o Manage the day to day business with Contract manufacturer for Prototype builds (Material shortage report, Build cost analysis, alternative components to resolve availability issues, change management on BOM, etc.)
o Work cooperatively with Project manager to complete the purchasing requisition from order through receiving goods or services
o Work closely with the receiver to ensure accuracy of inbound goods with PO
o Analyze and track performance against budget and provide quarterly spend report to management
o Work closely with accounts payable to facilitate smooth payment process and resolve potential payment/invoice issues
• Effective and continual communicate order status, delivery dates, and changes to all invested parties in team work with project manager.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations during phase, decrease turnaround time, explore and execute cost reduction opportunities (manufacturing process, material, test, etc.)
• Influencing the project team decision positively and effectively by providing recommendation from Strategic Sourcing perspective to manage the cost and Lead-time in line with Corporate/ department goals/objectives
• Support the material manager to create a data base for pricing for Prototype builds and  key components
• Perform analysis on aged/excess material CM and help to minimize/reduce the financial impact as result of engineering changes on the Bill of Material during design phase.
Experience and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or supply chain management and have 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably within a high-tech environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong supplier relationships and track record of results within assigned category.
• Experience working in a highly complex, technical environment and must be able to work under tight deadlines with multiple tasks and priorities with strong organizational capability provided by strong analytical skills.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Proven team player with excellent communication skills between supplier, management and peers.
• Superior interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter with a high degree of organization skills.
• Proficient with Excel and office
• Active learning and critical thinking
• Knowledge and experience with use of a major ERP system such as Oracle, Agile is preferred
