The Cloud Security Engineer will support requirements gathering, design, development, and execution of Kaiser Cloud Security initiatives. This position will directly contribute to the overall enterprise cloud architecture and then actually support the deployment and operationalization of security controls for cloud-based applications, across all cloud layers (including Infrastructure, Platform, and Software as a Service).
The Cloud Security Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert for Cyber Security during development of Cloud Security strategies and new service deployments. The successful candidate possesses the excellent interpersonal and communications skills required to partner with other leaders across the business to identify and gather relevant data, identify risks, and develop and deliver security solution designs to meet Kaiser’s cloud IT needs.
Essential Functions
• Support design and development of Kaiser’s security strategy and reference architectures for cloud and cloud/hybrid based systems. This requires the candidate possess a firm understanding of current cloud service provider offerings within both Microsoft Azure and IBM BlueMix platforms.
• Lead maturity of existing security controls on deployed Cloud services. (Ex. O365, CASB, Isolation, security controls for Saas Services, Saleforce Shield, etc.)
• Socialize new cloud security policies, procedures, and controls with KP businesses to get feedback and refine designs, accurate plan deployment and operationalization
• Provide leadership and innovative direction to ways KP can better leverage and secure Kaiser’s cloud solutions
• Maintain alignment of KP Cyber Security vision with business objectives and requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• College degree in related field and/or 8 years of equivalent work experience, required
• 5-8 year’s experience with Security Architect and/or Engineering
• 3-5 years experience with Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure
• Experience architecting solutions within Microsoft Azure, and preferably, other cloud solutions
• Experience with assessment, development, implementation, optimization, and documentation of a comprehensive and broad set of security technologies and processes (secure software development (Application Security), data protection, cryptography, key management, identity and access management (IAM), network security) within SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of common and industry standard cloud-native/cloud-friendly authentication mechanisms (OAuth, OpenID, etc).
• Expertise with CI (continuous integration) and CD (continuous development) methodologies, defining security for CI, CD Pipelines
• Exposure to securing Docker, containerization & microservices
• Experience with standard tools & techniques and securing them (Jenkins/Bamboo, Git, Jira, Puppet, Chef, Junit, Docker, Nexus, etc) preferred.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture for cloud-based services.
• Experience working with cloud security and governance tools, cloud access security brokers (CASBs), and server virtualization technologies.
• Experience with enterprise applications (architecture, development, support, and troubleshooting).
• Experience performing threat modeling and design reviews to assess security implications and requirements for introduction of new technologies into the cloud.
• Experience representing technical viewpoints to diverse audiences and in making timely and prudent technical risk decisions.
• Experience with enterprise architecture and working as part of a cross-functional team to implement solutions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction; self-starter/self-motivated
• Strong problem solving and program execution skills
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communications experience
• Ability to think strategically
• Proven leadership experience
• Ability to manage functional and matrixed teams
• Ability to prioritize and drive difficult decisions among business partners
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree in a Computer Science or Engineering field, with 7 or more years of experience, preferred.
• Cloud Security and Architecture related certifications (Microsoft MCSD: Azure Solutions Architect, Amazon AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Amazon AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional).
• Java EE software development experience, and experience with authentication/authorization in Java EE application servers (WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, etc).
• Architecture of mobile platform (iOS, Android) solutions, integrated with cloud-based services.
• Detailed understanding of SSL/TLS protocols and certificate-based solutions.
• A minimum of 8 years of information security and/or related experience
