A 3rd Shift CNC Operator job in Mahwah, NJ is currently available courtesy of Modis Engineering. To be considered for this job you must be comfortable working 3rd shift and have experience operating CNC Machines. The CNC Operator produces individualized dental prosthetic products, utilizing 5 Axis milling machines as well as Stereolithography (SLA), 3D printing machines. The Production Operator has full operational responsibility of the equipment covering milling and build procedures, tool, material and product exchange, regular machine qualification as well as cleaning and first level maintenance.

The Manufacturing CNC Operator will maintain multiple machines at maximum production levels while adhering to safety standards. This role will also be responsible for the daily inspection of a variety of restorative dental products utilizing manual and automated inspection equipment along with visual inspection using a microscope. Conducts final inspection in accordance with established procedure and is authorized to release product for distribution and also to reject product that does not meet specification requirements.

Manufacturing CNC Operator job responsibilities include:

Follow all Standard Operating Procedures for company dental products 5 axis milling machines and SLA 3D machines.

Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions.

Inspect work pieces throughout the production run and perform visual in-process QC. Report results to quality assurance, as needed.

Install and adjust milling tools, perform regular calibration of the machines and change operation to different products according to defined Standard Operation Procedures.

Perform daily maintenance of machines according to preventative maintenance plans and procedures to maintain equipment in optimal production condition.

Act as troubleshooter on 1st level manufacturing and machine issues.

Operate all secondary equipment as required within product line or manufacturing cell (Parts washer, microscope, batch ovens, coordinate measuring machine - CMM- , rotary tools, micrometer, etc.)

Work in conjunction with other manufacturing departments such as CAM, manufacturing engineers, Group Managers and Team Leads on solving problems in production as well as continuous improvement of workflow and procedures.

Work as part of a team to improve manufacturing processes through Kaizen.

Prepare necessary packaging as needed

Qualify all products produced according to Quality and Product Specifications/Requirements

Inspects and tests during in-process operations in accordance with established in-process inspection requirements.

Performs end product final inspection and releases conforming product to the shipping department for distribution to customers.

In combination with inspection activities, performs packaging and labeling operations.

Performs visual & functional inspections and utilizes various inspection equipment such as hand measuring tools and Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).

Supports the Danaher Business System (DBS) through the identification and analysis of quality issues and develops/implements countermeasures in cooperation with production.

Perform inspection activities through the complete understanding of specific product requirements with the ability to be objective and determination of product acceptance.

Meet production objectives and on time delivery by completing daily inspection and/or packaging volumes.

Documents inspection results in both manual documentation and SAP.

Maintains safety policies and procedures, including 5S initiatives and housekeeping

Attend and participate in Daily Management / Safety Committees / Training as required


GED, High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.

Certificate courses on CNC-Programming and/or CAD/CAM preferred.

Minimum two or more years of CNC machining experience on milling machines controlled by Fanuc, Heidenhain, and Roeders preferred.

Experience in high precision production (die making), pharmaceutical production, medical device, aerospace or automotive industry preferred.

Basic knowledge in programming code (Fanuc and/or Heidenhain) and CAD/CAM (Open Mind, Delcam) preferred.

Capable of PC-standard software (MS-Office). Basic knowledge of SAP preferred.

Good analytical and communication skills. Practitioner when action is required to solve problems with the machines.
