Modis IT and Engineering is currenlty looking for someone who has experience with Lathe CNC machines and they will be doing the second part of operating where you do the measuring, drilling, tapping and reming. This is a contract position located in Irvine, CA.

Job Summary:





Under general supervision, machines precision parts with very close tolerances. Works from complex blueprints, engineering sketches and verbal instruction. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties:






Program, set up, adjust and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders to perform precision machining operations
Calculate dimensions and tolerances; resolve blueprint-machining discrepancies through communication with lead and/or engineers
Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines; position and fasten work pieces
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
Measure, examine, and inspect completed parts to ensure work quality and conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
Clean work area, maintain equipment and perform preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize breakdown time
Comply with all safety regulations to ensure a safe and clean work environment
Comply with Trimedyne Quality Management System including the quality policy, quality systems procedures, work instructions and proper documentation procedures






Knowledge, Experience and Skill/Ability Requirements:





Minimum Education Required:








High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
Completion of Machinist Apprenticeship Program, or equivalent experience as a machinist














Minimum Experience Required:








Three years’ experience as a machinist and CNC programmer/operator, or equivalent combination of education and experience














Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:








Knowledge of machines and tools, including their safe use and maintenance
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, diagrams and work instructions
Ability to understand and carry out instructions in written, verbal or diagram form
Machining, blueprint reading, CNC training
Ability to use basic inspection gauges such as micrometer, caliper, etc.
Good organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Close, distance, color & peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus
