A Controls Engineer-Automation job in Freeport, PA is available courtesy of Modis Engineering. In this role you will research, develop, design, de-bug, and commission controls systems, and equipment related to automation, tooling systems, and custom internal equipment. You will also ensure that each assigned project is completed successfully within a respectable set timeframe, and within budget. An Associate degree or higher in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
Controls Engineer-Automation job responsibilities include;

Determine control system requirements based on machine specifications and/or interactions with PSG team members and customers.
Design safe and effective industrial control systems based on a thorough analysis of requirements.
Design and execute system testing procedures to ensure that the control systems are operating as designed.
Maintain existing automated machines. Often this involves retro-fitting old manual and automated machines with new controls systems.
Add direction and organization, as appropriate, to ensure that electrical design, build, debug, and test phases of the project run smoothly.
Assist in project management tasks as assigned.
Assist in project quotations pertaining to the controls functionality, required equipment, and employee/vendor resources.
Travel to customer sites for installations, trouble shooting, maintenance, and warranty repairs of automation, and tooling systems.


Associate degree or higher required in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related field required. Bachelor degree is preferred.
3-10 years in industrial automation with electro-mechanical, and controls design.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally. Usually 3-4 trips per year, Monday through Friday.
Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations.
Must have strong mechanical skills to work with mechanical engineers in the development of automated systems.
Must have a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
Must have experience in electrical/controls system design.
Must have experience in PLC based controls for discrete manufacturing.
Preferred. Experience in programming and commissioning motion control systems (primarily AC Servo)
Preferred. Experience in debugging and testing electro-mechanical systems and controls.
Must have broad PC expertise and knowledge.
Preferred Project Management experience.
Preferred experience in configuring HMIs for discrete manufacturing equipment.
Preferred experience and expertise in programming in Visual Basic, DotNet, XML, or C+.
Preferred experience programming and maintaining CNC machines.
Preferred experience in machine vision applications.
Preferred AutoCAD and SolidWorks experiences.
