Data Management Support Analyst job in Durham, NC

6-12-month contract role

Modis is seeking to fill a Data Management Support Analyst job in Durham, NC. This is a great opportunity and the successful candidate will share responsibility for performing and monitoring operational support processes for an application suite consisting of a mix of proprietary and vendor business applications. The role will support a variety of external and internal data acquisition & distribution processes—including data warehouse population, client report generation, financial analytics, referential data processing (security master), and other applications key to the firm’s daily, weekly and monthly business cycles. The production framework is entirely Windows-based, and uses Microsoft SQL databases for business processes, and SQL Server Reporting Services for report production.

The Data Management Support role will also assist in data mining, process review and description, and data collection in support of ongoing integration activities for an active IT migration.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to help manage, coordinate, and troubleshoot enterprise data flows across these applications, and to work with current staff to collect information and data concerning current processes.

  • Production application operations, including automated process scheduling, and system monitoring.
  • Investigation of production operations issues linked to scheduled business processes, as well as to those reported by internal clients.
  • Data collection can include object counts, execution history, and field use tracing between data tables, stored procedures and/or functions, and report or other data extraction tools.
  • Tools include Tidal Enterprise Scheduler, SQL Management Studio procedures and queries, and SQL Reporting Services reports.

Requirements:

Overview: Experience in SQL coding and database interrogation is valuable in this role. Familiarity with Windows system tools (such as services, UNC addressing) is helpful

Differentiators for more successful candidates would include a mixture of the following:

  • MS SQL Report Server, Crystal Reports, or Actuate report experience.
  • Database administration experience.
  • Windows services experience
  • Enterprise process scheduler administration

Useful vendor application product experience (not required, but helpful):

  • Financial portfolio data warehouses
  • Bloomberg data retrieval and content familiarity

Preferred Credentials and Experience:

  • Experience with fixed income products
  • Work experience at a financial institution, or prior experience in industry or technology
  • Exposure to financial applications, and/or accounting software systems.
  • Strong verbal and written skills
