Modis is currently seeking a Data Scientist / Deep Learning Developer an exciting long-term contract opportunity with our top insurance client, located in the heart of Downtown Chicago.
About our client:
Our client is one of the nation’s top providers for property, casualty, automobile and commercial lines of insurance.   In addition, they offer a full line of investment management and retirement planning services.  They are seeking a Data Scientist to join their research and innovations division, located downtown Chicago.  Within 5 minutes walking distance from Metra and CTA transit, this is a great location for city and suburban commuters!

  • Working with big data (spark, hive, pig, hadoop) sets to analyze for actionable insights and present those insights to the business to assist with strategic decision making.
  • Creating designing and prototyping out next-generation machine / deep learning  technologies in the areas of optical character recognition, computer vision, and imaging.  The majority of these prototypes will be created a variety of Machine Learning libraries  / Python Deep Learning frameworks such as Deeplearning4j, Keras, Quid, Torch7, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Mocha, Knet, Caffe, etc
  • Working with statistical programming tools like MatLab, SAS, and R to determine the correct data sets and variables necessary
  • Collecting large sets of structured and unstructured data from a variety of source platforms
  • Cleaning and validating the data to ensure accuracy and standardization
  • Creating and applying algorithms to mine the stores of big data
  • Analyzing trends and patterns and making hypothetical projections based on those deductions.
  • Successfully interpreting the data to discover new business solutions and opportunities
  • Professionally communicating data findings to business stakeholders at all levels within the organization (Managers, Directors, AVP/VP and C-level Executives)

Required Technical and Educational Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, MIS or another related field REQUIRED
  • Work towards, or a successfully completely Doctoral PhD program is preferred
  • Expert knowledge with statistical programming languages including Python or C++
  • Expert knowledge of Deep Learning Frameworks which could include TensorFlow, Deeplearning4j, Keras, Quid, Floyd, Mocha, Knet, Caffe, DeepPy, BigDL, neon,, etc.
  • Advanced statistical analysis with Matlab, R/ Rstudio, SAS.
  • Machine learning background with multi-model data (speech, text, imagery)  
  • Any prior experience with geospatial data, multithreading, GPU computing or bigdata (Spark, Pig, Hive, Hadoop) is preferred
