Modis is looking for a full time candidate to fill a DBA position in Ashburn,VA.
 
The Database Administrator will have the following responsibilities:
 


  • Database Administration of an existing PostgreSQL installation
  • Transition from vendor administered database to self-administered database, which you will be responsible for.
  • Developing and maintaining SQL to exchange data with external vendors
  • Supporting customer, manufacturer and management reporting requirements
  • Member of a team designing and implementing a web scale NoSQL implementation

 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Base-level requirements for the Database Administrator position
 
Experience and Skills

  •  
  • Hacker mentality
  •  
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in either Computer Science or related field
  •  
  • Willingness to learn and master new skills
  •  
  • 5 or more years’ experience in Database Administration and Development (PostgreSQL preferred)
  •  
  • SQL script development and maintenance
  •  
  • Database Administration

 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AREAS
 

  • Key subjects and programs with which you should have some level of familiarity with or working knowledge of:
  • SQL Development and maintenance
  • Database Administration
  • Linux Administration

 
DESIRED SKILLS
 
Additional, but not required, skills
 

  • Ruby Active Record
  • Shell Scripting
  • NoSQL knowledge and experience
  • Work as part of a design team to generate requirements
  • Identify appropriate NoSQL solutions consistent with our business model
  • Ability to learn how to implement selected NoSQL solution.
