This promising Design Engineer job is to satisfy the immediate need of one of our most reputable clients in downtown Seattle. You would be part of a team which brings innovation into consumers' homes on a daily basis.
 
Responsibilities:
 


  • Oversee and manage the technical product development process with vendors.
  • Manage all processes of development in all factories.
  • The central point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Act as a conduit for all technical communication between designers and operators
  • Research, sample, and verify new materials, techniques, treatments, and methods for application for developing projects.
  • Certify and approve final CAD tooling pre-production.
  • Optimize molds for costs, parts, and materials.
  • Close collaboration with designers to obtain a clear understanding of each products' design intent as well as potential bottlenecks.
  • Aid in the development of crude working models, prototypes and proof of concept for new projects.
  • Review of all tool shot samples working closely with the designers.
  • Develop an initial optimized BOM with designers and SVP ensuring design intent and specifications are closely aligned with cost constraints.
  • Approve CAD tooling before tooling begins to ensure all the specs are clear and correct before physically cutting steel
  • Ensure all of the following tool shots and final approval samples arrive as scheduled.
  • Meet with designers after each shot tool sample is received to review all their concerns and potential alterations.
  • Compose and send complete and timely feedback to the factories on all shots and send follow-up comments
  • Approve final shots with the CIO and SCP, assisting in making the final call on when a new product is fit for production.
  • Create product spec sheet and inspection detail for all development projects.
  • Travel to China two-four times per year with manufacturers to address current projects.
  • Work with the SVP of Product Development and Sourcing to ensure that all timelines are followed and met.

 
Qualifications:
 

  • Can do, innovative attitude
  • Self-starting team player
  • Demonstrate drive to solve problems
  • B.S. in Mech Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 product engineering experience with hands-on prototype development and testing.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience working with factories on consumer products featuring injection molding and other relevant materials (stainless steel, silicone, TPE etc.)
