• Help define requirements for motor control software and interfacing hardware components including voltage and current sensors and speed sensors.
• Design, model, implement, test and benchmark the motor controls of motor drives.
• Adopts, conceptualizes and synthesizes requirements for functions and algorithms for power electronics & motor control strategies new and existing products and embedded software for Induction and PM motors for robust variable speed drives in harsh environments such as marine, mining and other applications.
• Coordinates with internal and external customers to understand and create system and subsystem specifications/requirements in control systems.
• Understands and performs as needed, coding at system/subsystem level in C/C++ or assembly language for micro controllers/digital signal processors and FPGA/CPLD  in controllers.
• Responsible for verification of requirements by analysis and modeling of control systems using simulation tools like Matlab/Simulink and documenting by publishing reports.
• Responsible for verification of requirements by leading  testing and validation of drive and motor control systems  for low and medium voltage induction and permanent magnet synchronous motors using  software tools including emulators, debuggers, hardware in the loop and simulations.
• Provides system engineering leadership or individual subject matter expert contribution for software and controls tasks and projects by optimizing simultaneous system performance goals through requirements flow down and documenting them in verification cross reference matrix.
• Effectively integrates all aspects of control systems into the drives or motor system  in a stage-gate development process of product development starting from project plans and white papers.
• Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies in designs and prototypes by performing  fault diagnostics and fault management; leads root cause investigation efforts and determines short and long term corrective actions and solutions.
• Works closely with team members as needed to ensure final product has compatible software, hardware which functions properly together and performs per product specifications.
In-depth understanding of torque control techniques.
Prior experience with 3-phase power control, analytical control system theory development and analysis is required.
Demonstrated experience with PWM schemes.
Must have model development and data analysis in Matlab/Simulink
