Job Title:  Embedded Software Engineer
Oversee and guide the system design team in Designing, defining and implementing complex system requirements for customers and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies. Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives. Provides direct supervision to exempt employees and/or skilled, nonexempt employees (i.e., technicians, designers, support personnel). Acts as advisor to unit or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.

• Reviews all system or product proposals from Sales and obtains engineering approval to proceed when appropriate.
• Identifies appropriate system components for each customer request and creates cables and harnesses to connect.
• Generates System Block Diagrams and System Schematics.
• Conducts and/or supervises functional and performance tests on all new models of existing product lines.
• Participates in development of test procedures for all new products.
• Maintains model matrices.
• Supervises the creation and execution of ECRs and ECOs.
• Monitor direct reports performance and recommend upgrades as necessary
• Monitor adherence to ISO procedure and ensure our documented practices match work performed – if not then correct.
• Must adhere to and support the company’s Safety Health & Environmental (SHE) program
• All other duties as required

• EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  BSME/ BSEE required and 5 years related experience, with 2 years as a supervisor.
• LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to groups.
• MATH ABILITY:  Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced mathematical concepts such as calculus, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Ability to work with proofs and theorems.
• REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific
thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
• TECHNICAL SKILLS: Knowledge of FEA, control systems, shock and vibration, and the marine environment is a plus.
• COMPUTER SKILLS:  Microsoft Excel, Word, & Outlook – intermediate level required. Experience using an ERP system is preferred.   
Light travel (3-5 times per year) may be required.
