Modis is seeking an experienced Enterprise Production Monitoring Engineer with proven experience designing, building and supporting global production monitoring systems for one of our top financial industry leading clients located in Wilmington, DE.  Our client desires to hire this candidate on a contract basis with an initial term of 12 months with a strong likelihood of extension or conversion.  Local candidates only for consideration as on-site interviews are required.
 
Responsibilities Include:
• Engineer Production Monitoring – Design / Build / Support
• Establish monitoring standards and procedures to ensure configurations meet non-functional requirements
• Defining architectural strategy for monitoring in co-operation with service owners, business owners, and performance engineering teams
• Provide technical leadership and design accountability for production monitoring
• Drive the transition of non-standard to standard solutions
• Solve intractable problems with previous domain experience and automation
 
Required Experience & Skills:
• Proficiency with monitoring tools including Nagios, SiteScope, Wily, AppDynamics, Netcool, and/or ELK
• Experience with configuration management automation tools (Chef, Puppet, SCCM)
• Experience with revision control source code repositories (Git, SVN)
• Experience with continuous integration services (GoCD, Jenkins)
• Knowledge of ITIL taxonomy and non-functional requirements
• Knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and firewalling.
• Strong scripting skills, e.g. Bash, Ruby, Perl, PowerShell, Python, etc.
• Strong knowledge of web protocols and systems
• 5+ experience implementing, troubleshooting, and/or supporting production environments
• Requires strong verbal/written communications skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.  
• College degree or equivalent combination of IT education & experience
