An Environmental Affairs Manager job in Reedville, Virginia is available through Modis Engineering and Information Technology. This job will develop measurable objectives for evaluating the success of environmental compliance and training programs. Environmental Affairs Manager job key responsibilities include:

Develops new programs and policies to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Title V, Oil Pollution Act and Coast Guard environmental regulations.
Works with management to implement and conduct environmental programs, training, and employee orientation.
Identifies and prioritizes all environmental risks and uses team management techniques to develop appropriate control mechanisms.
Has overall responsibility for filing of EPA and (DEQ) reports as required.
Represents company in dealings with government officials enforcing environmental regulations.
Serves on the company’s internal audit team, visiting facilities throughout the United States to ensure continued compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
Attends conferences, maintains up-to-date knowledge of developments in environmental fields.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field - required. Advanced degree is desirable but not required.
Minimum of (five) years of related experience with managerial experience in industrial settings, familiarity with flame boilers, evaporators, heat exchanges and fire/combustion.
Knowledge of federal environmental related regulations, chemical and hazardous material management – required. Knowledgeable with state and other local regulations, including permitting – preferred.
Generalized knowledge in all areas of environmental compliance (air, water, land, solid waste, etc.), as well as experience with ISO Auditing – required.
Certification in environmental management is preferred.
Excellent managerial experience, mentoring junior consultants, and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as being matrix oriented with a willingness to work with the manufacturing general manager to help ensure compliance with procedures.
Previous experience with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams – preferred.
Proven ability to negotiate with regulators, and persuasion skills in guiding senior management when necessary.
