A Field Support Engineer job in Rancho Cordova, CA is available courtesy of Modis. You must have solid hardware and software installation experience. You will provide installation and post installation support of company Solutions, including Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems and Facial Recognition Systems. You will be responsible for system support to include first level software support as well as hardware support.

Field Support Engineer job responsibilities include:

This position, should be at a level that permits and requires the individual to take control and make necessary decisions to resolve routine situations with minimal impact to the customer.
In situations where critical system downtime may occur, with software or next level support not available at that point, the incumbent will be expected to act on self-initiative to make necessary corrective action, if possible, or take appropriate action up the chain management.
The Field Service Engineer provides installation and post installation support at customer locations throughout Southern CA.
Responsible for total system hardware and software support. As such, he/she will not only provide hands on technical assistance but also remote support to all users of the BCS product. Be capable of diagnosing and correcting difficult and intermittent hardware and software malfunctions arising from design deficiencies, data errors, component failures, and environmental issues. This requires a high degree of diagnostic ability and complete understanding of contemporary operating systems and AFIS applications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Maintain high customer satisfaction through professional and ethical conduct by providing professional services with excellent communication and written skills.
Ability to troubleshoot (locally and remotely) Windows based Servers, workstations and have practical hands on experience with the user applications.
Ability to analyze logs to make a determination as to cause of problems.
Troubleshoot and install patches for a variety of AFIS applications.
Gather and Analyze system error logs, operating system and application program messages, and application errors. Isolate and resolve intermittent problems.
Consult and/or report and escalate when necessary, problems not resolved, before they result in a major issue for the customer. Ability to locate, read, and transmit system/workstation logs as needed.
Perform system level fault isolation on all AFIS related products gathering all available error information by using diagnostic aids, error logs, diagnostic test routines, system dumps, and utilities in order to isolate and identify faulty hardware and software components.
Resolve system problems via telephone, remote access, and onsite service as required.
Knowledge and troubleshooting of Network LAN and WANS.
Provide direct 24/7 on-call site support, as needed.
Must possess excellent communication skills – verbal and written
Linux experience preferred
