A Gas Measurement Engineer job in Jackson, MI is available through Modis. This position is within the Measurement Design and Application Support team. This group is part of Measurement engineering team within Gas Engineering. GAM-Measurement Design and Application Support team is responsible for the Design/sizing GAS transmission system measurement equipment’s, Measurement engineering capital projects, measurement equipment’s testing and troubleshooting and measurement software applications support. The team is involved in operation, maintenance and construction activities, specially dealing with measurement equipment’s installation, operation, inspection and repair. The team maintains and improves system reliability through equipment testing, analysis of test results, acceptance testing, determination of equipment fitness for service, other trouble shooting, and technical assistance and development of testing and repair procedures.

Gas Measurement Engineer job responsibilities include:

Project engineering and design
Product/process research
Field technical support
Support and engineering of large custody transfer measurement project
Coordination and communication with multiple internal and external groups and / or service providers is a must.
Examples of this work may include replacement of specific measurement equipment’s component at City Gate, Storage facilities or Compression station area
Provide technical expertise in measurement equipment’s (Ultra sonic meters, Coriolis meters, Orifice meters, Gas Chromatograph and fuel meters, H2O, H2S, O2, CO2 and Hydro Carbon Dew point Analyzer) with capital project execution, installation, diagnostic, configuration and troubleshooting.
Able to understand and work with drafter to develop drawings.
Project engineer approve/review mechanical drawings.
Follow standard project execution procedure.
Knowledge of pipeline hydro test requirements.
Also support small scale projects acting as a project manager, construction manager and commissioning engineer.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and Micro station is plus.


This position requires a minimum of a four-year degree in engineering.
The candidate must possess strong analytical skills, project management, good oral and written communication skills and customer relations skills.
They must also demonstrate the ability to work well with others both inside and outside their own work. The individual will need to be a self-starter and able to handle multiple work assignments.
Ability to research and determine design parameters for the most advanced technical problems/systems, processes, engineering and design issues.

The following skills and experience will set you apart from others:

Familiarity with Michigan Gas Safety Code
AGA Gas classification
Masters or other advanced degree, ideally in a technical or scientific field of study
Energy industry background that includes natural gas pipeline layout design, Measurement equipment’s install, chemical component analysis, Gas metering or similar
Professional Engineering (PE) license
