A Global Supply Manager - Capital Equipment job is available through Modis Engineering in Cupertino,CA. It's a 9 month Contract Position.The Global Supply Manager (GSM) is an individual contributor responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and securing supply materials and engineering services. A successful GSM is someone that excels at balancing schedule and technical needs while achieving the best possible value for the company through the use of innovative sourcing strategies.


• Responsibilities include working closely with all levels of client and supplier groups as well as internal Finance and Legal Departments resulting in strategic supplier relationships that achieve cost-effective procurement decisions for the company.
• The GSM will also manage the overall business-to-business relationships between client and the supplier through day-to-day interactions and supplier business reviews, ensuring the best leverage of company dollars.
• Good understanding of how to integrate basic elements of a statement of work (SOW) into the overarching terms of a contract as well as negotiating both long-term and short-term engagements. Utilize RFI (Request for Information), RFP (Request for Proposal), and RFQ (Request for Quote) techniques to identify, select, and engage with suppliers to ensure competitive market advantage.
• Direct and implement supplier-sourcing strategies to ensure high quality, on time delivery, and cost competitiveness with an eye towards Total Cost of Ownership.
• Take an innovative approach to business relationships and structure deals that yield the best value for the company.
• Basic understanding of business contract law. Ability to manage and close multiple contracts in parallel.
• Identify big picture goals and prioritize activities accordingly


• BA/BS degree plus 5-7 years experience or (MA/MS/MBA/JD degree and 3-5 years experience), or equivalent (automotive is a plus).
• Contract writing and negotiation experience.
• Knowledge of and experience with, global supplier development & management, and cost management
• Excellent communication skills, ability to work in multinational environments, driven and motivated by accomplishing world-class objectives
• Must have exceptional ability to maintain and develop relationships within cross-functional teams as well as with suppliers’ teams and management
• Excellent organizational skills
• Familiarity with mechanical parts manufacturing processes is a plus
