Information & Process Analyst Job Description:
A direct-hire, Information & Process Analyst job in Houston, TX is available through Modis IT & Engineering. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial and performance content across multiple data access points such as firm dashboards, business intelligence platforms, SharePoint portals, web applications, SQL views and queries, and internally developed applications. This role will also help serve as an internal informational consultant to various firm services teams. In general, this position provides analysis and technical support as a liaison between business owners, business executives and technical users within the firm to ensure that information collected systematically is actionable, accessible and relevant to the business needs of the end-user.
Information & Process Analyst job responsibilities include:

  • Provides analytical/data access support to the Chief Operations Officer and other departments.
  • Creates SAP Business Object Universes, Microsoft Analysis Services Cubes, Crystal Reports, Transact-SQL stored-procedures, Multi-Dimensional Extension (MDX) language queries, and have advanced knowledge of Excel, including design of data streams for use in pivot tables, PowerPivot and Power View.
  • Assists in the development of strategic analytical metrics to ensure the firm maintains focus on actionable information and strategic financial and other performance related goals.
  • Assists in the enhancement and maintenance of existing information systems and analytical applications and fine-tunes reporting focusing on trends and predictive analytics.  
  • Gains knowledge and understanding of the use of databases across the firm, from both a business and technical perspective, to successfully consolidate data.
  • Assists in identifying and resolving inefficiencies in gathering, storing, and reporting of firm data.
  • Utilizes a variety of analytical and application development tools, along with business and technical skills, to deliver enterprise-wide financial and performance systems support.
  • Works interdepartmentally to help design, develop, implement and maintain new functionality and analytic applications across multiple groups.
  • Assists in capturing and translating requirements through a variety of interviewing, analysis and facilitation techniques, to create coherent information design documents leading to successful analytical and reporting solutions.
  • Works with various constituencies to achieve an understanding of their data/intelligence use in order to develop analytic systems (and algorithms) to meet their needs on a number of performance metrics (financial analysis, customer behavior and profitability patterns, etc.)
  • Acquires a power-user level of understanding of our business systems that includes providing end-user level tools and data model support, and assists/trains business users in various data analyses techniques and report generation.
  • Creates and/or updates formalized documentation related to technical processes, procedures, standards, version releases of our internal dashboard and other interdepartmental user tools, application end-user training, and training on other data access applications and analyses the department supports.

Information & Process Analyst Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor’s degree in Management of Information Science, Finance, Accounting, or Business
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing data through different ETL tools, such as Transact-SQL, Microsoft Query, Microsoft Access, Tableau Desktop, and SAP Business Objects WebI.
  • Experience with Crystal Reports (from a development perspective), Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft Analysis Services cubes, and other reporting tools.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (including expert level usage of Excel), specifically using PowerPivot and Power View.
  • Solid aptitude for business systems technology, data warehouse design, and basic data visualization principles.
  • Minimum of two years of law firm economics and a minimum of four years of professional experience in data management, analysis, reporting, and use of information extraction and integration tools.
  • Aptitude for gathering existing system process flows and process flow evaluation.
  • Professional and have strong communication skills; will also need to know their audience and be able to talk to people who don’t “speak IT” in a way that they can understand.
  • Strong understanding of financial data with a good financial background and ability to talk about “impacting the bottom line”.
  • Understand multidimensional views of data and be able to “connect all of the dots”.
