This is a HIT (Humanitarian Information Technology) Inventory Management Operations Officer in Fairfax, VA! Modis has an immediate opening for a 6-month contract HIT (Humanitarian Information Technology) Inventory Management Operations Officer in Fairfax, VA!

Job description:

• Act as interface between technology support operations in the field and the centralized technology warehousing and maintenance facility
• Liaise with other Information Technology support groups and subject-matter-experts for their support as necessary
• Receive, review, update and submit technology equipment orders for fulfillment
• Facilitate and support the return of technology items to the centralized technology warehousing and maintenance facility
• Provide field technology-support volunteers with the information necessary to efficiently and effectively carry out their responsibilities
• HIT Inventory Officer is familiar with company DROs and Disaster Response Technology processes and procedures to guide field technology volunteers in appropriately resourcing and supporting their operations

Responsibilities also include the following:
a. Guide technology volunteers on basic field technology implementation and troubleshooting, escalating technology support issues as appropriate
b. Monitor and respond to phone and email support queues
c. Provide updates for procedural documentation as needed
d. Maintain situation awareness of overall disaster response activity via attending conference calls, reviewing daily situational reports and statistics.
e. Generate ad-hoc activity reporting as required

Skills Req’d
• Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Microsoft collaboration tools (Office365, SharePoint, OneDrive)
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Organized; self-motivated
• Understanding of Information Technology and Networking terms and concepts

Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, IT or related field or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience would be 5 years’ experience in emergency management, disaster response and/or IT support. Prior experience supporting technology and communication systems in a disaster response scenario highly prized.

Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work cross functionally. Position requires strong organizational skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment. Position requires ability to work with volunteers and provide those volunteers with mentoring and training as needed.
