Modis is currently seeking a Investment Data & Analytics Specialist with strong data analysis, portfolio management, gap analysis, fixed income experience for an exciting contract job opportunity with our large investment banking client, located downtown Chicago.
Candidates MUST be able to work directly with Modis on a W2 basis.  W2 hourly rates range from $75-$80 / hour, with options for benefits through Modis.
The candidate will design and implement robust review and exception management processes to validate and research discrepancies associated with security- and portfolio-level data and analytics. As such, this individual will be a key contributor to the program's success and help to ensure a smooth transition for the global fixed income platform.
–             Gather, analyze and document data conversion/migrating requirements for the program
–             Analyze and support requirements of vendor software applications focused on portfolio management and trading
–             Investigate & resolve market data-related issues across multiple platforms & application vendors, highlighting deviations across sources and having capacity to engage with internal stakeholders and providers to address data and/or methodology differences
–             Perform heavy data requirements, including data gap analysis, data mapping across multiple upstream and downstream systems, and data validation.
–             Understand current state business processes from data sourcing through various upstream system and partner with the business to establish an robust data quality framework for the life-cycle of the migration program
–             Leverage technical skills and coordinate with developers regarding data processing and transformation logic and calculations
You’ll be based in Chicago, in a small cross functional team working in an agile fashion to successfully deliver this strategic program for the Fixed Income business, which manages $265b+ in diversified assets across 6 global offices.
Your experience and skills
You have:
–             Bachelors / Masters degree and at least 10 years of relevant work experience related to fixed income and/or multi-asset class security and derivatives analytics
–             Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
–             Experience with portfolio management and trading data entities and concepts (portfolios, holdings, trades, securities, analytics, benchmarks, etc)
–             Practical understanding of financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, swaps, options, futures, forwards, securitized products, etc, and a strong grasp of bond analytics.
–             Experience in producing portfolio & benchmark comparisons around characteristics & breakdowns
–             Intermediate database skills (SQL Server, Oracle) including basic table design, creating SQL queries, and using stored procedures/functions
–             Strong preference given to candidates who are proficient users of Barclays POINT or Bloomberg PORT.
Nice to have:
–             Ideal candidate will have recent buy-side experience, including experience with investment data domain concepts such as holdings, transactions, security master, analytics, and performance/attribution
–             Familiarity with reporting tools and experience with report creation or visualization tools
–             Understand data relationships & conventions of different market data providers including indices
–             Ability to create data designs from use cases & object models during requirements & design phases
