Modis, Inc. is seeking an IT Network Engineer on a direct hire basis in the Greater Nashville, TN area!
Overview of Responsibilities:

  • The position is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and operational support of all computer networking services including, but not limited to, support for all data center networking services, integration with various cloud computing solutions and business partners, LAN connectivity within all offices, WAN connectivity between offices, production web traffic internet circuits, remote worker connectivity, wireless connectivity platforms, and the security of all networking platforms.
  • Designs, installs, configures, administers, maintains, monitors, tunes, troubleshoots, and performs capacity planning for all network related equipment including, but not limited to, switches, routers, firewalls, IDS/IPS platforms, internet/MPLS circuits, web filters, WAN optimization platforms, VPN devices, and wireless networking infrastructure.
  • Meets with business stakeholders and/or other members of the IT team to turn business requirements into solid and supportable network services.  
  • Designs networking solutions, ensuring the proposed solutions are compatible with the company’s existing technology footprint and strategy, integration points are well understood, and solid infrastructure planning is performed.
  • Works as a part of the IT infrastructure and security team to develop service and solution roadmaps, design and document infrastructure solutions, and assist with the engineering and administration of key platforms.  
  • Participates in troubleshooting activities for complex service interruptions where knowledge of how services are designed is instrumental to service restoration.
  • Partners with internal business units, vendors, outsourced managed service providers, and other internal IT teams to ensure all IT services are efficiently delivered to meet business needs.  
  • Actively participates in strategic planning with the IT management team to develop new and improve existing services.
  • Works with the IT Security team to ensure all solutions are fully compliant with all compliance initiatives (including PCI and MAR) and in line with current company information security policies.  
  • Proactively develops solutions with the IT Security team to ensure the organization maintains effective security policies as the threat landscape evolves.
  • Actively participates in the Change Management process.  
  • Regularly attends Change Management meetings and provides leadership in representing and reviewing proposed changes for the purpose of minimizing risk to business operations.
  • Establishes and maintains positive, professional working relationships with all PGC associates and vendors.
  • Supports after-hours on-call requirements and planned maintenance activities.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Certification in Cisco based technologies (active CCNA certification is a MUST HAVE requirement; working towards CCNP is preferred; if already CCNP certified, that would be fantastic, but CCNP is not a must have requirement)
  • ITIL v3 Foundations certification is desirable, but not a must have requirement
  • Bachelor degree with concentration in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of experience with the engineering and management of networking technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, VPN, and traffic filters.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, UDP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, DNS, DHCP, Spanning Tree, MPLS, and WAN optimization.
  • Ability to analyze and solve both common and complex IT problems through reasoning, troubleshooting, and innovative thinking.  
  • Knowledge of tools for troubleshooting and monitoring of network performance, including tool selection, design, and implementation for automated monitoring of network equipment and advanced troubleshooting of applications.  
  • Ability to troubleshoot applications by capturing and analyzing network traffic with tools such as Wireshark is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of network diagraming and ability to produce detailed network diagrams.
  • Organizational skills requiring the balancing of many projects and tasks.
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with all levels of management and vendors.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts in a non-technical manner.
  • High sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned with a customer service mind set.
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast paced environment, shifting priorities and work efforts quickly, as needed.  
  • Willingness to learn and ability to adjust to changes quickly.
  • Proficient user of office productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of ITIL best practices preferred.
