Project Manager provides leadership and oversight for a project or multiple projects. The incumbent must have strong influencing skills, with the ability to execute. Will apply advanced knowledge and experience rather than fixed “textbook” methods to mitigate project risks.

Implementation is accomplished through cross functional teams which are not direct reports and are shared resources. Teams will be comprised of individuals across multiple business units and geographical locations. Effective team building skills will be required to motivate, lead, persuade, negotiate, supervise, and manage successful outcomes. May require moderate travel to overcome geographic, technical and cultural barriers.

The incumbent leads projects which will provide solutions to a wide range of difficult and complex problems in multi-discipline business areas. Business areas include Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Field Support and Overhaul.

The Project Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, scheduling, controlling, consulting, and leading of major complex integrated business process and/or system project requiring innovative, novel, or very difficult development of new or improved practices, procedures, techniques or systems. The incumbent exercises considerable leadership in developing the business and technical objectives of projects The position will spend substantial time leading the project's activities, researching, negotiating and resolving issues with only limited direction or supervision.

Work is performed without appreciable direction. Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall business objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters. The incumbent applies advanced principles and concepts of project management to influence, motivate and direct people in the performance of their assignments. Is a recognized leader and has in depth knowledge of business analysis and organizational change management. And exercises considerable leadership in developing the business and technical objectives of projects. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results.

Accountabilities


Assist in defining project scope, goals, and deliverables
Develop business case, financial analysis and justification for projects; identifying the business benefits to be achieved and how the benefits will be measured.
Lead the project team from Pre-Plan to Closeout.
Understand the project’s benefits & requirements and communicate the vision for the completed project to the team

Execution of project and completion of deliverables as defined by the Solar Delivery Method or 6-Sigma processes for project execution

Develop and/or review estimates and estimating assumptions for the project’s schedule, effort, and cost using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience.
Define project scope, schedule, and cost baselines.
Analyze project plans and status to identify and manage technical and operational risks
Control scope, communicating risks to scope, timeline and budget and resolve issues
Review the skills available within the project teams and arrange any necessary training to improve performance
Create an environment of functional accountability within the project team
Lead team through decomposition of the deliverables in the project into a work breakdown structure (WBS)
Generating the responsibility assignment matrix for the project, identifying team member roles and expectations for executing the WBS.
Setting and review objectives, assign tasks, coordinate activities across projects, and agree to timetables for achieving intermediate and overall goals. Resolve resource constraints and/or conflicts.
Measure, monitor and communicating the progress of project components to ensure the overall goals, schedules, budget, and benefits of the program will met or exceeds expectations.
Presenting reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
Oversee, assist and conduct with requirements elicitation change management planning and testing activities
Updates technical and job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Develop team members to deliver on the GES Vision by; orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.


Qualifications
Knowledge/skill requirements for this position include:

Excellent interpersonal skills in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the entire enterprise to take specific actions.
Excellent leadership, management, negotiation and people skills to effectively direct and motivate people to ensure business goals are met.
Experience supporting requirements modeling and processes development
Experience with organizational change management for multi-site deployments
Experience executing projects with enterprise processes and system
The ability to work with and manage teams who work with enterprise process or system
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, etc.)
