Role Summary/Purpose
This position will foster relation building with suppliers and negotiate with both direct and indirect supply base in accordance with internal purchasing policies as well as Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s) and Defense Federal Aviation Regulations (DFARS) requirements. Achieve the best contractual and commercial conditions while also ensuring internal customer satisfaction. Comprehensive in-depth understanding of purchasing and sourcing concepts and principles. Review, approve and issue purchase requisitions; follow up and expedite as necessary. Strong knowledge of purchasing metrics /KPI’s to drive and proactivity manage supplier performance.  Assignments are relatively complex and generally involve planning activities for products and/or production processes where the manufacturing process is variable. Coordinate activities of Engineering, Production Control, Purchasing and other departments to achieve optimum utilization of facilities in meeting production schedules.
 
 
 
Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will perform the following but not limited to:
•  Define supplier strategy including management and optimization of supplier.
•  Lead negotiations and allocate needs to specific suppliers
•  Negotiate terms and conditions and transmit information to the business as required.
•  Manage supplier claims as required
•  Negotiate the best commercial and technical package for procurement requirements
•  Work with allocated key suppliers to improve On Time Delivery and Quality statistics to target levels
•  Communicates across direct organization
•  Presents to senior leaders in specific purchasing space and on cross functional teams on how purchasing contributes to overall strategy
•  Assists in the continuous development of the Procurement function towards best practice
•  Identify and deliver value-adding opportunities from the supply chain
•  Advises Functional managers or other Functions regarding approaches, processes and procedures in the own field
•   Provide input to management regarding problems such as shortages, design changes, backlogs, and the like
•   Plan and issue schedules and material requirements.
•   As required, monitors the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. •   Review, approve and issue purchase requisitions; follow up and expedite as necessary.
•  Has a role as a project leader of medium sized projects or is a major contributor to bigger projects
• Expert knowledge /background with military procurement is a huge plus.
 
 
Qualifications/Requirements
 •  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Sourcing)
•  Minimum of 3 years of experience in Commodity Management
