Modis IT & Engineering is seeking a full-time, permanent Senior Estimator to join our client’s Engineering department in Houston, Texas. The Estimator is responsible for participating in the preparation of all design-build and competitive tender projects. The Estimator has direct accountability for the quality, on-time execution, proposal writing, competitive and complete pricing for bids.
 
Senior Estimator Responsibilities


  • Participates in all functions of bidding on construction projects by developing responses to client received RFP’s to a design-build solution in the best interest of the client
  • Prepares and presents detailed cost estimates and final detailed summary, scope of work and support detail for review with the executive team
  • Conducts a complete analysis of the bid request packages and prepares & coordinates bid documents for issue to vendors and subcontractors for pricing requests
  • Ensures day-to-day communication between all departments involved is upheld, ensuring a clear understanding of our joint responsibilities and commitments
  • Plans work (resource allocation) within each major bid and sees it through to completion
  • Develops monitors and maintains a centralized database for vendors, cost data, equipment and productivity factors

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in a commercial, industrial, institutional estimating role
  • Experience with Sage Estimating software (required)
  • Direct experience working as a team lead or overseeing the work of others
  • Post-secondary education in engineering architecture or related field required. A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Familiarity with Lump Sum tendering along with construction management and design-build required
  • Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to analyze/interpret customer requirements (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, etc.)
  • In depth understanding of all phases of the estimating & proposal development cycle
  • Experience with Revit
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office, SharePoint and Access
  • Superior oral communication, writing and editing skills;
  • Demonstrated analytical, time management and organizational skills
