We are looking for support developing a characterization system for RGBDepth cameras. This role will involve working closely with the design and test engineers to develop the data pipelines, analyze data, and implement algorithms for depth image characterization.

Top Daily Responsibilities:

Implement automated depth quality analysis in C++.
Automatically locate features of interest in the image and calculate depth error in within those regions (e.g. central regions, peripheral regions) using methods such as iterative closest points. Experimentally validate results.
Calculate specific image quality metrics such as sharpness (as by MTF, SFR), contrast ratio on the images from each sensor. Compare these image quality metric vs. depth error.
Evaluate reprojection error among multiple image views
Run characterization analysis on multiple units and develop characterization report for each sensor with plots (e.g. depth error vs. distance)

Required Qualifications:

BA degree in computer science or software engineering and/or related discipline
Three to five years of experience in scripting C++, OpenCV, Matlab
Three to five years of experience in Image
Analysis and Characterization (MTF, contrast)

One to three years of experience working with RGBD (Color and depth imaging) Depth Camera, image manipulation, including point cloud manipulation, fitting, and reprojection.
Experience with 3d imaging systems
Experience manipulating point cloud data
At least cursory understanding of fourier transforms & frequency response. (1D is fine, doesn't have to be 2D fourier expert).
Experience with camera calibration - can explain intrinsic, extrinsic matrices.
Hands-on 2d camera experience. Understanding of some image quality parameters like blur is really useful. Don't over-index on "Image Quality" there are image quality experts who do detailed work that's not relevant to our need.

Nice to have Skills:

MA in computer science or software engineering and/or related discipline
0-1 years of experience completing work at an academic level
Experience with calibrating multi-camera systems
Understanding how to manipulate images into same reference frame
