A contract-to-hire Machining Quality Technician job in Temple, TX is available courtesy of Modis Engineering. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with thorough knowledge of machining, quality assurance methods, assembly, testing, and manufacturing experience. In this role you will work in the quality assurance and continuous improvement department in a machining and manufacturing environment. We are looking for a hands-on expert in technical quality specifications who will thrive in a fast-paced environment. A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or another applicable discipline is required, as well as at least ten years of experience.

This is a secure position. Proof of United States citizenship is required to qualify.

The Machining Quality Technician job responsibilities include:

Review parts prints in detail and be familiar with product and component interactions.
Work with program and design engineers on product validation.
Analyze technical drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine best inspection methods on new components and make recommendations for improvements on products.
Train and mentor inspection staff in proper methods.
Analyze statistical data to improve processes.
Perform audits of suppliers as needed.
Root-cause analysis.
Maintain document and record integrity.
Perform analysis on supplier FA and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be considered:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or another applicable discipline.
10-15 years of experience in machining, quality assurance methods, assembly, and testing.
Must have a background in machine shop operations from the machine parts, metal works, automotive, or steel industries.
Training and experience with GD&T, APQP, and MIM (Metal Injection Molding).
Must have an understanding for lean manufacturing, quality management systems, and statistical data collection to improve business and drive efficiencies.
Experience developing PFMEAs and Control Plans for existing products.
Experience with maintaining calibration records and a variety of testing methods and equipment.
Programming and operation of CMM equipment. Experience with Calypso based equipment preferred.
Must have an understanding of the cost of quality and have a dedication to meaningful continuous improvement.
