Fortune 500 American Brokerage and Banking company is looking to fill a Mainframe contractor job in Phoenix, AZ.
 
Please note- this is a weekend night shift position! Hours below:
Friday and Saturday 4:00PM to 4:30AM
Sunday 3:00PM to 3:30AM
 
Hours will float 6 hours one way or the other depending on scheduled time off for PTO of regular staff.
 
Job requirements;
 
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position is the primary point of contact for our internal customers and assists with monitoring enterprise wide alerts, as well as performing work within ITO’s incident, problem, change management system as well as providing initial triage during events.
 
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
NOTE: The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Incumbents may perform all or most of the primary accountabilities listed below. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented in the incumbents' performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents' immediate supervisor or manager.
1. Assists with supporting and recovering Mainframe infrastructure, under supervision. Documents and communicates actions in collaboration with teammates. Performs changes within established guidelines and under supervision.
2. Provides support for routine production problems that have been escalated to the command center and/or technicians.  Evaluates issues and escalates to senior technicians, engineers, and/or the vendor as appropriate. Tracks the status of the issue and provides updates to stakeholders as required. Updates internal ticketing systems as required.
3.Build productive internal/external working relationships with peer level positions to ensure tasks are completed.  
4.Completes work assignments based on departmental priorities and system criticality.
5.Maintains and increases technical knowledge by attending training sessions and establishing personal networks.
6.Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
No supervisory responsibility for others.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
3 to 5 years of experience in a large 7x24 high availability data center environment.
The candidate must possess a general knowledge and understanding of  Mainframe operating systems as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in computer science/information systems or formal technical training.
 
General knowledge of the z/oS Operating Systems, working knowledge of  JCL,TSO,JES2, SDSF,Omegamon Products,
CICS,DB2, Datacom, MQ series, HMC and system consoles.
General level of awareness around critical production applications, for example:  Client website, RRBUS, BPI. General of knowledge around critical systems. General knowledge around application dependencies.    
Effectively use Formula to acknowledge, investigate, close, or escalate alerts.
Effectively use Remedy to create, document, escalate, and re-assign tickets.
Able to effectively perform administrative tasks such as paging ONCALLs with xMatters, scribing techlines using TechlineChat, and answering calls from phone queue.
 
Effective communications skills during escalation to Senior Staff, Systems Support groups as well as Business/application support.
Must possess the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
May be called upon to assist with an outage and or event to restore services.
Able to execute all mainframe change tickets to which DCO resource is assigned.
