Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for manufacturing process development, implementation, and continuous improvement to enhance Quality / Yield, reduce Cost, and improve Productivity / Schedule. Initiate and lead lean manufacturing process improvement projects.
• Specify and implement automation equipment and processes.
• Identify and assist in addressing safety issues on the manufacturing floor.
• Support manufacturing production planning and coordination, execution and operations process development.
• Provide production support to assemblers and leads.
• Document manufacturing processes and assembly work instructions in conjunction with T&O Planning.
• Design shop aid tooling to assist production.
• Disposition non-conforming parts, identify root cause, and implement corrective and/or preventive action to reduce scrap and rework.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering during prototype, development and first article manufacturing.
• Expertise in assembly methods and processes, including Surface Mount Technology as well as Thru-Hole Technology and soldering; Electronic box build.
• Experience with molding/potting and shielding is desirable.
• Experience with electrical testing including Continuity, Insulation Resistance, and Dielectric Withstanding Voltage testing, as well as related equipment, including In-Circuit Testing, Flying Probe Testing and automatic functional testing with and without thermal chamber.
• Experience with Electrical Schematics and Circuit Diagrams; Drawings and BOMs.
• Clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written form to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
• Experience with Outlook and Power Point. Ability to use CAD programs for tooling design is desirable.
• Must be available for either 1st or 2nd shift.
 
Additional Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience with IPC & MIL standards, including: IPC/WHMA-A-610 and 620 , J-STD-001 – Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, MIL-STD-1553 – Digital Time Division Command/Response Multiplex Data Bus, MIL-STD-1760 – Aircraft Electrical Interconnection System, SAE-AS39029 (MIL-C-39029)– Experience implementing capital equipment in factory environment.
• Experience with MRP systems, eg SAP or MTO/WDS. Experience with Microsoft Office Project and Visio.
• Experience with programming.
• Experience with databases, e.g. Oracle and FileMaker. Knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with process mapping and demand flow technology
• Strong background in electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Six Sigma Green Belt
 
Job Qualifications • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree.
• Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
• Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
• Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
• Able to work extended hours as required.
• A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
