A Manufacturing Engineer job in Lexington, NC is available through Modis. This is a direct hire job opportunity with a long-standing equipment manufacturer in the Triad area. The ideal Manufacturing Engineer candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering field, and 3-5 years of experience in a machining, fabrication, or other industrial environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will assist with technical support and direction to the client's business units, manage the relationships with machining and fabrication suppliers, and encourage innovation and continuous improvement for the business related to in-house manufacturing as well as external suppliers.

Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer include but are not limited to:

Assist with technical support specifically with machining and metal fabrication suppliers
Inspect parts, qualify suppliers, and secure supply chain (ensuring NDA's are in place)
Site visit existing suppliers and source new suppliers; inspect parts domestically as required (up to 50% local travel)
Determine tools and best practices in assembly of products
Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis and document solutions for identified problems
Encourage suppliers to achieve optimum methods in order to achieve quality, delivery, and lowest cost
Provide feedback to the design engineering group with regard to efficient manufacturability or parts through design modifications
Assist in training hourly personnel
Perform time studies to set base level process times when needed

Qualifications for the Manufacturing Engineer are as follows:

Bachelor's Degree in a technical field + three years of experience working in heavy mechanical machinery (or equivalent combination of technical training and applicable work experience)
3-5 years of experience in a machining, fabrication, or other industrial environment
Working knowledge of machining, metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly
Computer skills: ERP (SAP), Excel, Word, AutoCAD,etc.
Ability to travel to vendor sites in NC and SC (up to 50%)
Knowledge of OSHA regulations as they apply to an industrial facility
Ability to communicate effectively on all levels both within the company and with vendors
Ability to read, interpret, and manipulate mechanical engineering drawings using AutoCAD Inventor (other CAD experience acceptable)
