A Matlab/Calibration Engineer job in Mt Vernon, WA is available courtesy of Modis Engineering. This position requires at least three years and solid proficiency in Matlab scripting experience. You will be responsible for gathering and analyzing large amounts of data from testing and presenting findings. This will involve scripting with Matlab. This is 12 plus month contract position with a good chance of converting to a direct position. The pay rate is between $35.00 and $55.00 per hour on a W2 contract.

Matlab/Calibration Engineer responsibilities include:

- Uses engineering principles and experience to calibrate and optimize engine and vehicle performance functionality via in-vehicle testing of engine management functions
- Perform scripting and data analysis in Matlab.
- Perform GUI tasks in Matlab
- Post process data from incoming fleets.
- Actively participates in the calibration, verification, release and implementation of software for NA vehicles.
- Provides technical feedback on proposed product changes.
- Perform problem definition.
- Generate appropriate reports and presentations based on data.
- Work with engineering team to make improvements on test scripts.
- Use calibration tools and data acquisition tools.
- Determine errors and track relevant information.
- Provides support to the running business group in the calibration , verification and release of running change software releases.
- Provides relevant input to the development, communication and management of vehicle calibration plans, including timing, quality and budget.
- Translates customer performance requirements into software calibration data for the engine management system.
- Ultimate goal is to make improvements on performance of trucks.
- Performs diagnostic activities on engine management system and report findings and recommendations to improve reliability and durability of the system.
- Stays current on software functionality and product requirements for their assigned functions.
- Identifies opportunities or provides input for new initiatives to improve calibration and testing metho9ds for higher efficiency and effectiveness.
- maintains positive working relationships with other groups and divisions.


- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required.
- Must have professional experience in Matlab scripting.
- Experience with Diesel Engines and Class 5-8 vehicles is a plus.
- Knowledge of engine and powertrain management systems and performance.
- Knowledge of in-vehicle engine calibration and data acquisition systems, OBD and engine control systems.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively.
- Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgement required.
- Organized and disciplined with ability to manage personal workload and willingness and in itiative to respond to shifting time and project demands.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
