Role:  Mechanical Designer/Drafter
Contract (4-6 months)
Rate:  $26/hr - $31/hr
Location:  Sylmar, CA
Modis Burbank is looking for a Mechanical Designer/Drafter for a great manufacturing client in the San Fernando Valley.  The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will be responsible for designing and updating products, components, as well as manufacturing equipment and tooling and preparing associated drawings.
• Develop concepts, layouts, solid models, and detail drawings using Solid Works.
• Consult with Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and vendors to review design concepts, and create detailed working drawings.
• Review and create compliance documentation and verify procedures are appropriately executed.
• Work with Technical Writer to create procedures and process documentation.
• Coordinate with internal tool shop and external sources during quote and build of tooling.
• Assist manufacturing and engineering teams during implementation of designed products and tooling.
REQUIRED - Must be able to demonstrate solid working experience in on or more of Design-for-Manufacturing, Error-Proofing, Six-Sigma Design.
• Proficient at using Solid Works.
• Experience collaborating with other functional departments and with outside vendors.
• Experienced at working to ridge schedules.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to conceive and understand mechanical concepts while applying basic engineering principles.
• Knowledge of design and drafting techniques, standards, GD&T, ASME Y14.41, tolerance stack up and drafting principles.
• Experience with aerospace or medical device standards would be an asset.
• Proficient in MS Office,
• Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with diverse work force and departments.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.  
• Ability to multi-task.
