A Mechanical Engineer job in Greensboro, NC is available through Modis Engineering. This is a long term, contract to hire opportunity with a growing technology firm. The ideal Mechanical Engineer candidate will possess a BSME and at least 5 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience including complete system design experience. The Mechanical Engineer will provide mechanical engineering leadership for projects as well as systems integration, testing, installation support, new product design and development, analysis of design feasibility, and provide supporting documentation for new designs.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer include but are not limited to:

Conceptualize and design complex electro-mechanical assemblies and in-process systems, including development and checking of technical specifications, drawings and bills of material
Manage the scope of work for mechanical design on projects
Interface with R&D and commercialization team members to design and produce prototypes and to commercialize next generation product offerings
Provide technical expertise on integration, assembly, and testing using best engineering practices
Ensure team commitment that projects are met including cost, schedule, function, performance, serviceability, and appearance
Lead design reviews to evaluate: functional and regulatory requirements, tolerance analysis, sub-assembly decomposition, manufacturability, material specifications, bills of material development including use of standard components, and validation processes
Create 2D and 3D part/assembly models and detail drawings for manufacture per design best practices using CREO, AutoCAD or other 3D CAD programs.
Support production and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering designs and meet all customer specifications
Support sales activities including initial customer meetings, design conceptualization, quote and work order generation, develop/maintain positive customer relations and work to identify additional sales opportunities
Provide effective reports and presentations to communicate concepts, designs, test results, etc.


Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer job are as follows:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
At least five years of progressive mechanical engineering experience
Experience working within a cross-functional team to handle multiple priorities and meet scheduled milestones
Experience with project management methods and tools including scoping, facilitation, delegation, and risk management best practices
Ability to accurately estimate the level of effort required to complete a design
Experience with 3D and 2D CAD design including configuration management for complex assemblies (CREO preferred)
Demonstrated mechanical component and assembly design experience including dimensioning, tolerance setting, and tolerance analysis
Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision, and possess strong attention to detail
