A Mechanical Engineer in Santa Clara, CA is currently available courtesy of Modis Engineering, An Adecco Group Company. In this role you will be working for one of the world’s leading medical technology companies. The company offers a diverse array of innovative medical technologies, including reconstructive, medical and surgical, and neurotechnology and spine products to help people lead more active and more satisfying lives. In this role you will verify that the mechanical design of new products used minimally invasive surgical procedures including cameras, light sources, and scopes, are safe and effective and meet the requirements set forth by the functional specifications for the device. Verification testing may include tests aspect of the design. Investigates root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements. This is a one-year project and salary is $38.23 to $50.00 per hour.

Mechanical Engineer job responsibilities include:


Understands the intended use and functional specifications of a device


Supports identification of user needs through benchmarking and user based testing


Supports experimentation on early design prototypes


Supports testing of new products, components, and designs


Develops test methods using latest technology that are accurate, time-efficient, and cost-effective


Designs tests to fully measure requirements listed in the functional specifications, including automated test fixtures to execute tests


Validates test methods used for verification and validation


Generates documentation for supporting verification and validation activities including test methods, test protocols, and test reports


Maintains a strong relationship with cross-functional team throughout the design and development process


Abides to guidelines set forth by the Quality System Regulation (QSR)


Qualifications:


3+ years of test engineering experience, or equivalent


Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical/Biomechanical Engineering


Excellent analytical skills


Effective interpersonal communication skills


Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment


Demonstrated mechanical/electrical problem solving skills


Musts have the ability to work with and assemble small objects and component parts


Ability to operate common office equipment (e.g. calculator, PC, telephone, etc.) and common measuring devices


Must have good visual acuity and demonstrate fine motor skills


Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.)


Must be able to generate, follow and explain detailed instructions and design parameters


Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately


Must be able to analyze and correct complex test designs
