Position Core Role:
Experienced Metrology Quality Engineer position providing dimensional part analysis and problem solving of complex issues. Analyzes parts to the drawings and specifications to assure conformance. Supports verification of supplier related changes.

Responsibilities:
Leads investigations with dimensional analysis and problem solving of complex issues. Reviews dimensional part issues and concerns from manufacturing. Analyzes parts to the drawing specifications to assure conformance.

Daily Tasks:
Oversees and manages complex problem solving analysis and investigations. Leads investigations and directs problem solving activity. Documents all activity related to quality issues – ex. problem details, investigation results, etc. Reviews supplier equipment programs, develops schedule and data review. Develops countermeasure activity in-house and at suppliers. Reviews supplier data collection (fixtures, programs, associate technique, and data review). Manages and supports countermeasure communication with suppliers and other departments. Monitors, sets direction, and approves part or process change points prior to use on saleable product. Prioritizes and schedules supplier support. Evaluates and verifies supplier new model welding equipment and fixturing utilizing data provided by multiple suppliers to combine templates and estimate interference. Performance Management – manages Personal Performance Reviews, Critical Success Factors, and Goal setting. Supports department budget and business planning process with investment cost and timing.

Experience:
Minimum of four years experience in part layout, and project management.

Knowledge:
General knowledge of stationary and portable layout equipment. General knowledge of fixture dynamics. Familiar with manufacturing processes, quality assurance and production schedules. Knowledge of various manufacturing processes – ex. Injection molding, Extrusions, Stamping, Roll forming, Welding. Knowledge of vehicle systems.

Part measurement skills.
Ability to set direction based on limited data.
Ability to lead department level themes.
Ability to lead meetings and/or present technical reports.
Ability to read part drawings (blueprint reading).
Ability to use 2D and 3D CAD systems (Catia, Enovia, etc.).
Ability to work as a team member to achieve common goal or work independently.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to use QC tools (Statistical Process Control, Pareto, etc.).
Strong problem solving/decision making skills (problem identification, root cause analysis, countermeasure identification, and situation analysis study).
Strong leadership skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong presentation & communication skills (ability to communicate problem summary to cross-functional & diverse audience).
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Visio, etc.).
Strong analytical skills (use of Excel/other applications).
Reliable and flexible with ability to change priorities as needed.

Degree:
Bachelors’ degree in Engineering field or equivalent experience.

Position Factors:
Willingness to travel up to 25%. Possible international travel (including Canada). Ability to travel and work overtime with short notice. Willingness to work overtime (approximately 20-25 hours per month). Willingness to work rotating shifts as needed.
