Network Engineer
 
The Network Engineer is responsible for the technical architecture, planning, designing, installation and management of the hardware/software and network systems. This position works with the Director of IT to oversee the administration and maintenance of the company’s network servers, communications (data and telephone) and all other company systems and applications.
 
Essential Functions:


  • Works with the Director of IT to maintain, troubleshoot, and install network infrastructure.
  • Ensures the smooth operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for employees.
  • Provides user support for access to networks, printers and servers.
  • Provides desktop support including installation, configuration and maintenance of both operating systems and applications running on desktop systems.
  • Ensures up-to-date maintenance of the company’s network and servers including but not limited to: backup and restores, creating, modifying and maintaining user accounts, etc.
  • Performs continual monitoring and support to the entire company network.
  • Supports the network infrastructures and services including wireless, VPN’s, VoIP and backup/disaster recovery technologies including SAN replication and tape backup.
  • Provides support to all users which also includes home users and providers.
  • Responsible for the design, installation and documentation of network architectures including: LAN’s, WAN’s, VPN’s, Firewalls.
  • Knowledgeable and capable of installation as it relates to network cabling and phone systems for new locations as well as normal relocation and the reconfiguration of office personnel.
  • Maintains confidentiality and security with all corporate information, including but not limited to patient records, financial information and personnel records.

 
 
Education / Licensure / Experience:

  • Bachelors in Information Science and Technology or another related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License is required
  • Telecommunication experience with PBX systems and wiring desired
  • Prior experience with Wyse thin client administration preferred

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments with attention to detail.
  • Strong PC skills, including Electronic Medical Records and Microsoft Office systems; Ability to implement wireless and VoIP architecture; Server and client virtualization including Microsoft-Hyper-v and Citrix Xen.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting; SAN software, hardware and design.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server 2000-2008 administration; Knowledge of medical office environment preferred.
