Job Description:
Oracle (primary) and SQL Server (secondary) DBA with a minimum of 3 years of experience who will be supporting over 200 databases of the Research & Scientific variety.
The candidate must have significant communication skills as they will work closely with both infrastructure and applications support teams in the Baytown facility near Houston.
The end users that will be supported, globally, consist of 1000 personnel that are comprised of Chemists, Physics and Chemical Engineers, many with PHD’s.
 
Application Breakdown:
- Process control data collected and managed via Schneider-Electric Wonderware, Honeywell Uniformance PHD and National Instruments’ LabView.
- Electronic Laboratory Notebook and Chemical Registration systems from Biovia.
- Laboratory Information and Management System (LIMS) and sample management systems, currently home grown, to manage sample and analytical data.
- High Throughput Experimentation systems, using a middleware solution (RAS / LEA) originally developed by Symyx.
 
- Reporting and Visualization tools, many built on the graphical programming tool Pipeline Pilot by Biovia.
- Databases and application integrations are always in flux due to new applications, new versions, etc. so attention to documentation and change management is critical.
