A Piping Designer position is available in Midland, Michigan through Modis Engineering & Technical!

In this long term contract opportunity the Piping Designer will support the development, design and construction of capital and expense projects from concept through start-up.

Preference towards candidates located in Michigan that can attend in person interviews at our clients site in Midland, Michigan.

Key responsibilities include:


Drawing creation, layout and presentation as well as construction package preparation.
Process and utility piping design, equipment arrangements simple to complex designs and layouts of chemical processing equipment and associated piping utilizing 3D and 2 D CAD software.
Perform field surveying of existing piping systems for incorporation into 3D plant design modeling software.
May be involved in some detailed checking functions.



Required Qualifications:


Experience using CAD drafting and design software.
Ability to read and modify P&ID drawings.
Experience developing equipment arrangements and pipe routing designs from concept, P&ID's, corporate standards and process specifications. Knowledge of drafting techniques and applications in generating Piping Design drawings.
Ability to transfer ideas and or rough sketches of others into finished detailed drawings.
Ability to create drawings from engineering input, vendor data, etc..
Ability to receive, prioritize, and coordinate work from designers and engineers.
Ability to complete drawings in accordance with engineering standards, department policies, and standard drafting practices.
Work requires solid knowledge of piping design and an understanding of how piping design interrogates into the complete project.
7+ years experience in manufacturing roué capital project engineering.
Prefer experience using Microstation V8 or V8i, AutoCAD 2D software to develop Petrochemical Mechanical and Piping design drawings. Experience in chemical process industry.
