A Powertrain Simulation Engineer in job in Farmington Hills, MI is available courtesy of Modis Engineering. This is a Direct Hire opportunity. In this position you will be responsible for simulating and evaluating advanced heavy-duty vehicle powertrain concepts. This job requires at least four years of experience in 1D simulation and a background in powertrain simulation and development. This is a Direct Hire opportunity with our client and will include a full benefit package. The salary ranges from $80K to $105K per year.

- Simulate and evaluate advanced heavy-duty vehicle powertrain concepts.
- Develop and correlate 1-D simulations of vehicles with electrified powertrain.
- Optimize electrified powertrain designs.
- Optimize vehicle energy management strategies.
- Develop and correlate 1-D engine simulation.
- Optimize engine mechanics, flows, and performance.
- Communicate results and recommendations to team and stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Cooperate with cross-divisional counterparts.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and methods.
- Work with the team to facilitate technology transfer to relevant divisions.

- Masters or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Engineering Physics.
- Four or more years of experience in 1D simulation, preferably applied to heavy duty vehicle systems.
- Background in powertrain simulation and development.
- Background in powertrain controls.
- Background in simulation of diesel engines.
- In-depth knowledge of 1-D simulation tools (e.g. GT-Power, AVL Cruise).
- Demonstrated skills and experience correlating 1D models with experimental data.
- Previously demonstrated strong technical knowledge, analysis, and communication skills.
- Experience with Mathworks Simulink modeling and co-simulation with other 1D packages is preferred.
- Knowledge of design optimization tools is preferred.
- Experience with turbocharger matching is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter and have demonstrated high levels of initiative and innovation.
